During coronary bifurcation stenting, Side Branch Occlusion can accidentally block the artery — sometimes leading to severe heart attacks. Lumora predicts that risk for each patient, before the procedure begins.
As the stent deploys, the artery's own geometry can close the side branch — with no way to see it coming.
A proprietary algorithm, derived from biomechanical simulation, turns each patient's lesion and bifurcation geometry into a definitive numeric risk score and visual map.
Designed for real-time use inside the catheterization lab, so a strategy can be tested and chosen before deployment, not after.
Early version: the full clinical dataset is not connected yet, so results are preliminary. For research and demonstration only — not a medical device, not for clinical decisions.
The core technology traces back through a Bachelor's in biomedical engineering, a Master's in the numerical modeling of endothelial cell motility, and a PhD studying endothelial cell behavior under pressure and velocity wave variation.
The team ran extensive simulations to identify the exact mechanical, biological, and geometric parameters that cause SBO — then published the core methodology in Physics of Fluids.
Currently in the advanced simulation phase, building a generalized predictive model with early preliminary results. The long-term vision: a Lumora module built directly into hospital angiography platforms, such as those from Siemens Healthineers and Philips.
